Friday I headed to Michigan for the wedding of my dear friend Andrea. It was a very exciting event. Andrea, Amanda, and I worked together in Res Life at Grace my first year in the counseling program. These two women are at the top of my favorite people list. Ironically they've married twin brothers. Andrea and Josh live in Michigan. Amanda and Nathanael live in England. Nathanael is attending OXFORD for his masters in Philosophy (they are real smart). So... not only did we get to see Andrea and Josh get hitched, Amanda and Nathanael were in from out of country. I forgot how much fun it was to just sit with friends you love, sharing stories, and just to laugh and laugh. It was so good for my soul. Also kind of sad because it makes me miss them and times like those. It's a rare thing for Lee and I these days. Lee could not come out on Friday because he had his last masters class of the semester Saturday morning. He took his final, found out he got the highest (and perfect) score on his portfolio, and then headed to MI with our good friend Chad for the wedding. They wore "matching" shirts unintentionally and then came up with a story about how they were twin brothers. They pretty much goofed off the whole reception at a back table in the corner. There were no other Grace people there who weren't in the wedding and I was at the head table so they had to entertain themselves.
After the reception we went out with Amanda and Nathanael and a few other Grace guys who were in the wedding and just enjoyed our time together. Sunday morning we woke up late because we didn't have the alarm set right. We were supposed to go out for breakfast with Amanda before they left to head to Ohio. WELL before we could head to IHOP I had to take "the boys" to the GIANT WATER SLIDE that was the attraction of the hotel. Yep, you can bet that Lee, Chad, and the pastor who married Andrea and Josh were trying to go down the slide as fast as they could. Imagine several adult guys running up the red stairs next to all of the little children. It was quite comical.
After the slide, we went and grabbed some breakfast with the group, said our sad goodbyes, and went our separate ways. Lee and I actually stayed in Grand Rapids and did all of our Christmas shopping. After a full weekend of fun, I was NOT ready to return to work. This is the last week before Christmas break so you can bet I am counting down!
