Sierra was in Lee's very first class and has Cystic Fibrosis. He nicknamed her "Trouble." She, at the time, was in fourth grade and will always be one of his very most favorites. Anyway, she turned 13 this summer and had a surprise party that we wouldn't have missed for the world. We were all standing out by the driveway waiting and the car pulled up. She got out, took a few pictures by the birthday sign and immediately walked through the crowd of family and friends heading straight for Mr. Snider. She gave him a big hug and walked with us up to the party. Didn't even hardly acknowledge that anyone else was there. We quickly grabbed our food and she plopped down right next to us to eat. Throughout the course of the time we were there she repeatedly stopped by our table to chat for every free minute she had. It was really cute to see just how much Lee loves her and how much she adores him. I know it made Lee feel good and she was obviously so excited we'd come.....it's kids like her and moments like those that making teaching worthwhile.
