A Visit to Vincennes

This past weekend Lee and I headed down to visit his sister and her husband. Our trip came at the perfect time as Megan had just gotten her first teaching job. We arrived late on Thursday night after stopping in Indianapolis to have dinner with Miriam. Friday we had a work day in her classroom. We rearranged, cleaned, and did bulletin boards. With four people we got a LOT of work done.

When we began the room literally just had a bunch of junk in the middle of the room. When we left, it looked like a classroom. It came in quite handy to have Lee (the seasoned professional) around to help talk through stuff. Saturday we got to see the sights and visit the Watermelon Festival. Saturday afternoon Lee and Aaron golfed while Megan and I drove our own cart and talked. Saturday night we were had hoped for a canoe ride around the lake but ended up just playing euchre instead due to rain. Sunday we got to go and visit the church where Aaron is a pastor. We ran into a slight problem as the exhaust pipe on our car decided to rust out just before the 4 hour trip home. The car would have been VERY loud. A patch job was successfully completed and we were on our way home. It was a great trip. Megan was an excellent hostess with great meals and a gift for hospitality which is a good trait for a pastor's wife I'd say.
Along the way we stopped at a couple from our small group that had recently moved to Indianapolis and spent a little time catching up with them. Then we realized that our good friends Jason and Sarah were driving back to Indy from New Paris so we coordinated and ended up pulling off the road to chat. We sat on the tailgate of Jason's truck and caught up for about an hour. It was a LONG trip home, but we got to see and spend time with lots of people that we love and miss. It's always good to spend time with family and friends.
