4th of July

Every Memorial Day/Labor Day weekend we spend at the Snider cottage doing "lake work days" so the Wagners get to come here for the 4th of July. For the past three years my family comes into town and we take our boat out on the lake to watch the fireworks...it's become "tradition". There is something special about seeing the fireworks from the water. It's beautiful because of the reflection on the water, you're not cramped around a zillion other annoying people, and you just float, relax, and enjoy time together. This holiday season the weather was not up to par so we did not get IN the water at any point. In previous years we have had the jet ski out, swam, went tubing, etc. This year it was far to cold and cloudy to be worth it. On Friday we spent the afternoon just catching up, played a game of Settlers, and then went out for dinner. We then headed out onto the lake where we played Cranium and made fun of a live band that was playing at one of the lake homes. Then the fireworks show was enjoyed. Saturday we played more Settlers, had take out sushi for lunch which we ate in the park, and just relaxed. It was a great time, we laughed a lot and were really sad to see them go.
The ol' boat might not be pretty (is anything that is that color of brown attractive?), she might not run right, but she always floats.....and that's good enough for us!

You are a super hostess, and we always enjoy spending time with you, Lee and Miriam. We are blessed, that's for sure! And the fact that we will see you again soon made leaving a bit easier...
love, mom

Thanks for having us! It was good to take a break from the craziness of life for a couple of days.
