Hummingbirds Return!

I adore hummingbirds. My love began many years ago. Doris, an older woman in our church had three feeders and fed what seemed like hundreds of these little guys. They were always buzzing in and out and all around. Really I think she claimed to have like 50 (that may be a slight exaggeration but I was little so I just remember that there were LOTS).

We always had hummingbirds at the Wagner homestead and last year I attempted to begin the tradition as a Snider. To my delight we had two pairs who came and visited us regularly last summer. The neat thing about these little guys is that they often follow the same migratory path and will nest each year in the same location. So once you snag a pair they are likely to return year after year. I'm excited to announce that one of our pairs has returned this spring!

Each morning as I've gone out to the kitchen to get my morning bowl of Special K with red berries I've gotten to see either the male or the female.....and it makes my whole day. Honestly, I think it's a small blessing from my God who is saying....."I love you Becca. Have a great day." I think far to often we miss these little gifts of joy He gives because we are focused on ourselves, our worries, our agendas, our days. My prayer for each of you is that in the course of your day you would take the time to see the small gift the Lord has given you to put a smile on your face. Keep looking or you might just miss your hummingbird opportunity for the day!
